Bill Layne Insurance Agency is an independent insurance agency at 1283 N Bridge St, Elkin, NC 28621, owned by Bill Layne (NC License #6571216). Information you give us
When you request a quote, send a message, upload a document, or sign up for our newsletter, we receive what you type or attach. Depending on the form that can include your name, phone number, email, ZIP code or address, date of birth, driver's license or VIN numbers, details about your vehicles or home, your current policy, and any files you upload.
We use that information to prepare quotes with the insurance companies we represent, to service your policy, and to answer your question. Quote and service requests are delivered to our office email and, for quote forms, also trigger a text-message alert to the agency so we can respond quickly.
We ask that you never enter payment card numbers, bank account numbers, or Social Security numbers into a website form. If a carrier needs them, we collect them by phone or through the carrier's own secure system.
Information collected automatically
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read and which links they click, and Microsoft Clarity to see how pages are used (scrolling, clicks, and anonymized session replays). Both set cookies or similar identifiers. Neither is given your name, and we do not use them to build advertising profiles. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
Hosting and security
The site is served through Cloudflare, which logs requests (IP address, browser, page requested) to deliver pages and block abusive traffic. Cloudflare may show a short verification challenge to automated visitors.
Embedded content
Some pages embed YouTube videos, Google Maps, or Facebook Messenger links. When you interact with those, the provider may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.
Text messages and email
If you give us your mobile number, we may text you about your quote, your policy, a payment that is due, or a document we need. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to opt out, or tell us by phone or email. We do not sell or share your number for anyone else's marketing.
Newsletter emails include an unsubscribe link. Policy and billing notices are sent because you are a customer and are not marketing.
How we share information
- Insurance companies we represent, to quote, issue, and service your policy. Each carrier has its own privacy notice.
- Service providers that run our email, text messaging, document e-signature, website hosting, and analytics. They may only use your information to provide the service to us.
- When the law requires it, such as a subpoena or a North Carolina Department of Insurance request.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with unrelated companies for their own marketing.
Keeping and protecting it
We keep quote and policy records for as long as North Carolina insurance rules and our carrier agreements require, and we delete or archive website form submissions once they are no longer needed. Files travel over HTTPS, and access to customer records is limited to agency staff who need them. No system is perfectly secure, so we keep the amount of information we ask for to what a quote actually needs.
Your choices
- Ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete website submissions that are not tied to an active policy. Email Save@BillLayneInsurance.com.
- Opt out of texts (reply STOP) or newsletters (unsubscribe link) at any time.
- Block or clear cookies in your browser. The site still works without them.
